Sky Ride Manchester 2011

Sky Ride Manchester took place on Sunday 7th August and was an amazing experience. 18,500 people took the opportunity to ride their bikes through the city's traffic-free streets, enjoying all the entertainment along the way.

To find out more about what happened click here or see the videos below. There will be two bike maintenance workshops in Manchester on 19th and 20th August - one for total beginners and one for those with a bit of bike know-how.

Click here to learn more about the benefits of cycling.

Here's a video produced by Dr Hannan of what happened on the day!

There are other Sky Ride Local events happening in and around Manchester. Click here to find out rmore and to register on a ride for you and your family!

If you enjoyed this and would like to try another fun cycle route then here is a link to Peak Cycle Links who are trying to link the spectacular Tissington, High Peak and Monsal Trails to Matlock and Buxton

Sky Ride Manchester - promo from Sky Ride on Vimeo.

On Sunday 1st August 2010, over 20,000 cyclists travelled 12 km in central Manchester as part of festivities to encourage more people to cycle. Dr Hannan captured some of the sights and sounds of the day and has made a short video for you to see what it was all about. Please send any photos or video you may have also taken of the day and which you would like to share with others so that we may add them to this page too - email the photos to htmcpatient@nhs.net or put them on disc and hand them in the surgery for the attention on Dr Hannan. Please also contact us if you have any further ideas on how we can encourage more patients and the public to cycle more and do other exercises that help to lose weight, reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, depression and back pain. Together we can become a very powerful force for good!

Do You Know?

More and more people are going on to the internet as each day goes by. But do you know how many and at what rate and what impact that is having on the way we inform people? Here is a You Tube video made by some Sony researchers in 2008 which gives us some idea of what is really happening out there and why it is essential that we embrace this technology but also start to help patients and the public to understand information and services better so that you can look after yourself and your loved ones better!

Enjoy (and turn up the volume !).
