Touchscreen at Haughton Thornley Medical Centres
NHS NW Innovation Funds provided Haughton Thornley Medical Centres with the opportunity to develop a bespoke arrivals screen with partners Wiggly Amps, Glen Griffiths and Richard Sills. The touchscreen combines an arrivals kiosk with the opportunity to confirm the contact details for the patient stored on the clinical system are correct as well offering the opportunity for the patient to choose to sign up for access to their records and to combine a small printer which provides a ticket for them when they first arrive in the surgery. (Presently the patient is prompted to go to the reception to find out what to do next). We hope to encourage patients to self-serve. The system is fully customisable and we hope patients will start to use this service, thereby freeing up our reception staff to deal with genuine patient queries, answer the phones or inform patients how they can get access to their records. This is all part of making encounters with the surgery more productive and offering teachable moments
