Using Engage Consult to contact the surgery and get an appointment

This is a new service we have introduced for patients / carers who would like to contact the surgery without having to ring the surgery first thing in the morning and is the new way to get an appointment or advice from the practice.

Advantages for patients to use the service

It is easy - you have already done one already!
It saves you time
You can easily find relevant information about your condition or symptoms to help you self-manage
It is available for you to use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
The system will flag up an urgent message to remind you this is not an emergency service and if symptoms suggest a degree of urgency then it may tell you this. Please note however it is your responsibility to decide what is best for you.
The practice staff / clinicians will get back in touch with you via email during office hours.
You can see responses and message back to the practice directly once you have registered into your account.
You do not have to worry about trying to get an appointment - just complete the questionnaire and wait for an acknowledgement and response.
You can download your form so that you can also share this with others eg Out of Hours or A&E if you wish
It works with your access to your electronic health records and also the practice website www.htmc.co.uk. Learn more about how we are engaging our patients and staff using technology here.

To get the best from the practice, we recommend:

Make Engage Consult the first place you visit when needing help from the practice if you need an appointment
Make it a favourite on your desktop and / or put it on your Home Screen on your smartphone
Please complete all the questions it asks - this can take up to 10-15 minutes to do
If you have a rash or a mole that you want us to see, why don't you take a photo of it first (ideally with a ruler if you have one so that we can see the size too of any mole) before you start the questions. You can then upload the photo securely for us to see and also attach into your electronic health record.
The more information you provide, the more comprehensive the medical history we get and the the easier it is for the doctors and other staff to deal with your request
You can look at the suggested links that may help to answer your questions without needing to speak to a doctor or nurse
You also sign up for full access to your GP electronic health record and understanding too
Please also visit the practice website www.htmc.co.uk which provides lots of useful information about local services and what the practice offers.
It is important that you try to do as much as you can to help yourself. There are many things you can do for common problems you can solve which do not require an appointment with a clinician. Please use these self care resources to guide you if you are unsure.
Register each member of your family for Engage Consult too so that they can also start to use it.
Once you have completed your encounter, please log in to your electronic health record (using Evergreen Life PHR or Patient Access) so that you can read again what has been agreed.

IN TIME, WE HOPE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CHOOSE A SPECIFIC CLINICIAN AS WELL AS ASKING FOR ANYBODY BUT PLEASE REMEMBER NOT ALL CLINICIANS WORK EVERYDAY. PLEASE BE PATIENT IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE WITHIN THE SET TIMES WHICH ARE ONLY A SUGGESTION. WE HOPE TO DEAL WITH MOST QUERIES ON THE SAME DAY OR AT LEAST TO GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH YOU SO THAT YOU KNOW WE HAVE RECEIVED YOUR MESSAGE.

Make Engage Consult a favourite on your computer and create an icon with a link to this webpage on your smartphone so that you can easily get help and support when you want it.

There are 5 buttons that you can easily use:

Request Help From Surgery. This is what you can now use to consult online.

Create your Engage Consult account. You have to do this first to create an account for each member of your family.

Practice Website www.htmc.co.uk. Find lots of useful informaiton to help you get the best from the practice and to learn more about your healthcare conditions. The main website is where you can find the most information - look at the patient control panel down the left hand side.

Self Help. Easily find relevant information about any condition or symptom

The "burger" button in top right corner. Use this to read and respond to messages from the practice. You can only initiate this once you have sent a message in using Engage Consult and until the practice has "completed" the request either by inviting you to come to the practice or advising you what else you can do.

Here is a typical output from Engage Consult showing how much information the clinician has to help you get the best care possible. This was from a patient who thought they may have a "chest infection". Engage Consult does not diagnose you but provides a comprehensive medical history that the clinicians can use to help us work out how best to help you.

Please remember to also use your Evergreen Life PHR app or Patient Access app to access your electronic health records too. They both allow you to see what your doctor or nurse has written about you as well as see your problems list, results of blood tests and other scans as well as letters received by the surgery. You can also order repeat prescriptions via the app. We recommend you download both apps.

Evergreen Life PHR is also a wellness app which allows you to measure and monitor your wellness scores, allowing you to check your happiness level, your fitness and food as well as check your DNA and also monitor your measurements that you may want to take eg weight, BP, peak flows. You can also use it to send you reminders when it is time to take your medication as a notification on your smartphone. Currently it does not allow you to see your family's records if you have "proxy access" although they are hoping to bring this out soon. Patient Access allows you to view your children's records if you have been granted "proxy access" by clicking on switch user.
